El cuadro Glen (abreviatura de Glen Urquhart) es un tejido de lana con un diseño de twill y una combinación de cuadros de distintos tamaños . Suele ser en colores negros o grises. Su nombre viene del valle del Glenurquhart en Inverness -shire, Escocia, donde se utilizó por primera vez en el siglo XIX por la guardia de la condesa Seafield.

El diseño clásico de cuadros Príncipe de Gales se compone de cuatro secciones:
- La primera es una pata de gallo creada por cuatro hilos claros y cuatro hilos oscuros y que resulta finalmente de tono más oscuro.
- La sección opuesta diagonalmente es un cuadro de dos hilos claros y dos oscuros que crean un efecto sutil de rayas horizontales.
- Las otras dos secciones alternan cuatro hilos claros y cuatro hilos oscuros en una dirección con alternancia de dos hilos claros y dos hilos oscuros en la otra dirección, creando un efecto de banda.
Hoy en dia, estos cuadros los podemos encontrar no solo en paños de lana, sino en algodones o linos. En cuanto a los colores, el más famoso es el de tonos grisáceos, también los podemos encontrar en verdes, azules o marrones. Tampoco son ya de exclusividad masculina y los podemos tener en abrigos y chaquetas de mujer.

Glen plaid (short for Glen Urquhart plaid) or Glenurquhart check is a woollen fabric with a woven twill design of small and large checks. It is usually made in black or gray colors. Its name is taken from the valley of in Inverness-shire, Scotland, where the checked wool was first used in the 19th century by the Countess of Seafield as outfit of her gamekeepers.
Where they take their popular name and whom would be famous Edward the Prince of Wales, Edward VIII and Duke of Windsor after his abdication.
The Glen check is made up of four sections:
- The largest section is a houndstooth check, and it’s made up of alternating four light yarns and four dark yarns in both the warp and the filling (weft).
- The section opposite the houndstooth section of the check is a two and two check, made up of alternating two light yarns and two dark yarns in both the warp and the filling creating a subtle stripe effect.
- The other two sections have alternating four light yarns and four dark yarns in one direction with alternating two light yarns and two dark yarns in the other direction, and it creates a stripe effect that leads from one houndstooth section to the next.
Today, these checks can be found not only in woolens, but also in cottons or linens. About its colors, the most famous is still the gray tones, but also can be found in green , blue or brown. They are not already male exclusivity and we can have in women’s coats and jackets.
