La semana pasada hablaba de los pantalones Capri. Su complemento ideal son unas bailarinas. Quien me conoce personalmente sabrá además que son mis zapatos favoritos. En cuanto llega el buen tiempo no me las quito, reponiéndolas en varios colores cada año.

El origen de las bailarinas viene del ballet clásico, así como su nombre. Aparecen en el siglo XIX en las representaciones de danza y de ahí pasarían a formar parte del vestir.

Una de las marcas  con más historia en el mundo de las bailarinas es Repetto. Es 1947 cuando la firma creó sus primeros zapatos de ballet en su taller de la Rue de la Paix  a petición de su hijo Roland Petit, bailarín y coreógrafo y desde entonces sus zapatillas de ballet son usadas en la Ópera Nacional de París y en otros grandes teatros. Del escenario los llevaron a la calle en 1956 a petición de Brigitte Bardot, para quien crearon un versión similar a las zapatillas flexibles de baile pero con suela para llevar en la película “y Dios creó a la mujer”. El modelo se llamaría Cendrillon ( Cenicienta) y aún es un clásico en sus colecciones.

También Audrey Hepburn en su película “Sabrina” ayudaría a popularizar las bailarinas.

Es un zapato tan icónico que ha llegado hasta a las marcas de alta costura. Lanvin, por ejemplo, las ha convertido en un clásico de sus colecciones con su inconfundible filo elástico y las punteras muy originales, demostrando según reseña Vogue que los zapatos planos pueden ser tan icónicos como el tacón más alto.

Aunque su nombre bailarina es el más conocido a mi me gusta su otro nombre en castellano, manoletinas. Éste viene del torero Manolete y  su gran fama. Mítico en la historia del toreo, hizo famoso este zapato abierto que solo se diferencia del zapato convencional en el mayor grosor de la suela. Sus fans femeninas, que le seguían a todas partes, copiaron sus zapatos haciéndoles famosos.

Si la bailarina tiene la punta redonda y además lleva una trabilla por encima del empeine se suele llamar Merceditas, forma que popularizó María de las Mercedes de Orleans, primera mujer de Alfonso XII.

Las llames como las llames y sean como sean, son básicamente un zapato cómodo, comodín de cualquier look y que incluso suele ser el zapato auxiliar de fiestas y ceremonias tras agotadoras horas de tacones. Las podemos encontrar incluso en farmacias y aeropuertos en formato plegable para usar de descanso. No hay ningún otro zapato con ese concepto. ¡Yo las adoro!

Although its name ballerina is the best known to me I like its other name in Spanish, “manoletinas”. This one comes from the bullfighter Manolete and his great fame.
